Continental to Bring 816 HD to Philly

Continental Electronics said it will exhibit its new 816 HD Transmitter, which it promotes as an “elegant” approach to HD Radio broadcasting.
The company touts the unit as a solution for low-level combined FM+HD operation using a single transmitter for higher power levels than had been possible, from 10 kW to over 20 kW. Also promoted will be an 816HD upgrade for 816R “C” Series FM transmitter users, for TPO levels from 10 to 20 kW or combined for TPO levels to 40 kW.
“This solution eliminates the requirement for a second HD transmitter, lossy combiner systems, second antenna, tower crews, etc. required for most other proposed HD systems,” Continental says. Also on display will be the 815D5 5kW HD Radio + Analog and the 816R Series Transmitters.
