Eela Audio’s EA816 GSM Telephone Hybrid, which features HD Voice, is meant for studio applications with no cabled telephone connections and is also suited for OB vans as it also can be powered from a car-battery.
The GSM Telephone Hybrid has an AMR-WB codec and the unit has dial buttons on the front panel, so an external computer isn’t needed. Also integrated into it is an extra headset connector, GPIO for interfacing and for external control functions.
Calling functions include auto answer, auto disconnect and a remote contact. There is also non-volatile memory for up to 10 telephone numbers.
Eela Audio says the GMS Telephone Hybrid has found use as a PA system, a way for engineers to monitor unmanned broadcasts and for journalist to dial into the studio for field reports.
