When you hear “3D” you might think of a cheap horror film — but three-dimensional visuals can be a powerful tool. FCCInfo.com is now using Google Earth technology to create three-dimensional representational photo maps.
FCCInfo.com utilizes several FCC databases pertaining to broadcast and transmission properties. It is maintained by Cavell Mertz & Associates.
Using the Google Earth tools, users can see locations and get perspectives on facility sizes, tower heights and even microwave paths. Integrated information balloons provide context and additional information about the station or facility.
The application is platform-agnostic, including Linux.
