During the 2012 NAB Show, Thomson Broadcast will showcase an alternative to satellite or telecom links using DRM technology.
The solution, the company said, produces a strong, high-quality DRM shortwave signal that can be used for FM rebroadcasting.
Using this technology, broadcasters have the technical means necessary to distribute programs to low-power FM/AM transmitters, so they are no longer dependent on third parties for distribution.
Compared to satellite transponder bandwidth, the DRM transmission on shortwave is significantly lower in cost.
