Frontier Introduces Profile 1-Compliant Venice 7

The module is optimized for low cost and power consumption and is designed as a drop-in replacement for existing Venice 5-based radios.

The new Venice 7 digital radio receiver module from Frontier Silicon is compliant with Profile 1 of the DAB “Go Anywhere” standard.

The module is optimized for low cost and power consumption and is designed as a drop-in replacement for existing Venice 5-based radios.

Anthony Sethill, Frontier CEO, stated: “Because Frontier designs the silicon, module and software in-house, it enables all aspects of the solution to be developed in harmony. Venice 7 is powered by Frontier’s new leading-edge audio processor IC, Kino 3. This has resulted in the most cost-optimized multi-mode tuner module available.”

The Kino 3 baseband processor chip integrates sufficient memory to support DAB, DAB+, DMB Audio and FM without the need for additional SDRAM memory.

The Venice 7 module includes interfaces necessary for a fully functional radio, needing only power supply, display, keypad, audio amplifier and speakers to complete a product.

Compliance with the Profile 1 specification for DAB means that both the Venice 7 module and Jupiter 7 reference platform enable products that are interoperable worldwide.
