Many NAB Show attendees are getting their first look at 8260A, the newest and largest member of the 8200 powered monitor family.
The driving forces of the 8260A are a 10-inch woofer, a 5-inch laminate cone midrange with the 0.75-inch aluminum dome tweeter set coaxially within it, using Genelec’s Minimum Diffraction Coaxial mid/high driver technology and Genelec’s Directivity Control Waveguide technology. Powering these drivers are a 150 W bass amp, and dual 120 W amps driving the mid-range and the HF driver.
Frequency response performance is claimed to be 29 Hz – 21 kHz. Digital inputs can run between 32 – 192 kHz.
Onboard DSP controllable with Genelec Loudspeaker Manager (GLM) includes crossover filters, driver EQ, driver alignment, room response alignment, calibration and compensation delay. The 8260A can be used with other 8200 family members for surround sound setups that can be managed through the GLM. It is also compatible with Genelec AutoCal room calibration system/alignment system.
