Gorman-Redlich Dons CAP

Converter is designed to save on cost of a new encoder/decoder

Gorman-Redlich’s new CAP-DEC1 is a standalone Common Alerting Protocol-to-EAS converter, in a box that occupies one rack unit.

The updatable CAP-DEC1 is compliant with the latest FCC CAP decision, according to the company.

The unit features a 1.6 GHz dual-core processor and 1 GB of onboard memory and five USB ports and Fast Gigabit networking. It offers a text-to-speech module and printing, logging alerting options. It syncs with NTP clock servers.

The CAP-DEC1 should be compatible with any EAS encoder or decoder on the market, the manufacturer says.

Retail price: $1,350.
