Harris Broadcast Introduces Maxiva VAX

Unveils new family of Maxiva transmitters for TV and radio broadcasters at IBC

Harris Broadcast unveiled a new family of Maxiva transmitters for TV and radio broadcasters at IBC, including its VAX range for VHF TV and DAB digital radio.

Harris Broadcast Maxiva VAX transmitters are built on the Harris Broadcast PowerSmart 3D architecture, featuring a full broadband, single-amplifier design to simplify installation, improve performance, and streamline ongoing operation — including maintenance. This comes courtesy of a modular design that eliminates tuning, minimizes overall labor and reduces spare parts to one set for an entire transmission network.

According to the company, PowerSmart 3D also significantly reduces installation Maxiva VAX transmitter footprints through exceptional power density, with rack space reductions exceeding 50 percent across most power levels. This is helpful for national broadcasters operating large networks from space-challenged facilities; or local broadcasters filling in coverage gaps across expansive areas.

Maxiva VAX transmitters also feature Harris Broadcast Apex M2X software-definable exciter technology; and RTAC real-time adaptive correction technology. Standard inputs include ETI to support DAB radio signal distribution over IP networks.
