Harris Expands IP Options

New codec is a 'scaled-down version of NetXpress' for point-to-point program delivery applications

Moving beyond its established niche in the high end of the audio transport market, Harris is showing the Intraplex NetXpress LX IP codec.

The NetXpress LX is a rackmounted codec in a single RU that can carry up to four bidirectional stereo audio streams. The unit promises low delay, adjustable packet sizes, programmable jitter buffer depth and Intraplex forward error correction among other features. Naturally, the NetXpress LX is compatible with other NetXpress products.

Harris Broadcast President Tim Thorsteinson said: “The audio transport market in the radio broadcast industry has been moving steadily from legacy TDM services to IP-based services … Harris has filled the high-end sector of this market with NetXpress, building a reputation for reliability in complex, geographically widespread IP audio networks. We are now bringing the same quality of service to broadcasters that are migrating to IP with more straightforward audio transport requirements.”
