High Hopes for Low Power

BE introduces lineup of solid-state, low-power FM transmitters

Broadcast Electronics is introducing STX LP, a line of solid-state low-power FM transmitters. BE calls it “the only scalable, frequency-agile LPFM transmitter with built-in exciter at the sub $7,000 price point.”

It will show the line at the Broadcast Engineering Society (BES) Expo 2009 in Delhi, India, next month. India is in the process of large-scale FM privatization but BE says the line is suitable for many markets.

The STX LP family has models in 1 kW, 3 kW and 5 kW power. Power output is field upgradable by adding PA modules.

A built-in exciter is included to make the package more affordable. The exciter is upgradable to a digital model and is compatible with HD Radio. The STX LP is remote operable via an IP connection.

The STX LP is designed to generate less heat with improved energy efficiency, a heat sink and multiple cooling fans. It has four RF power transistors for increased reliability.

The company also will show its new AVfleX digital media system with Music Master and Traffic 2000 at the show in India.
