Users of the Omnia-6 processor have a little gift awaiting them under the Omnia virtual Christmas tree: a package of Christmas presets.
The presets aren’t quite “nutmeg, ginger and baking Christmas cookie scent” or “crackle of the Yule log” or “dazzle of tinsel and Christmas tree lights,” but rather designed to even out and highlight the wide range and differentials of Christmas music.
As Omnia cheerfully explains: “Let’s face it: Most formats do not regularly include contemporary artists right alongside Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir! … This preset was specially created to address the needs of a very wide source material block, yet still deliver competitive loudness for dial impact.”
But they add in the Christmas spirit: “We also added a bit of ‘sparkle’ to the preset, so that all of those bells and twinkles — so common in Christmas music — shine right through to enhance the listener experience.”
Maybe good enough to hear the reindeer dancing on the rooftop …
