IBC Sneak Peek: 2wcom Introduces MM08E

The eight-channel MPEG encoder offers flexible operation

2wcom’s new MM08E encoder promises flexible operation in SAT or IP environments. The solution can receive audio signals by analog or digital input as well as by Livewire streams.

The MM08 encodes common audio algorithms (Enhanced apt-X, AAC, MPEG I/II Layer 2/3, PCM) and RDS data.

Additionally, it generates multiple streams independently. With the system, transmission of ancillary data and switching contact information (GPIO) can be forwarded via integrated interfaces, while activation of additional hardware channels can be managed via software update.

In addition, an optional second hot swapping slide-in power supplies enables uninterrupted operation. The package comes with quality management functions such as MPEG FEC and DualStreaming; controlling (HTTP, Telnet, NMS and SNMP) and monitoring (IP and MPEG parameters via SNMP v2c and relay, headphone output and alarm, source switch & event logging).

Combined with the Satellite Inband Remote Control (eSIRC) server and its DSR02+ satellite receivers, the company says this solution enables broadcasters to fully control the entire distribution chain with a satellite IP solution.
