Linear Acoustic Releases Bitstream Analyzer

Just what the well-heeled engineer needs for the digital signal toolkit

Linear Acoustic, part of the Telos Alliance, has released the MT2000, a specialized digital signal analyzer that the broadcast engineer in a multiformat facility might find of interest.

It is described as a “multichannel bitstream analyzer” that will “help engineers confirm the composition and integrity of audio streams throughout a facility or signal path. SDI, DVB-ASI, HDMI, AES, MADI and TOSLink inputs are available as well as Dolby E, Dolby Digital, and Dolby Digital Plus decoding.”

Duties for the handheld tool include detecting errors in the AES3 layer. It has an onboard signal generator. According to the company, the MT2000 will automatically identify the audio format of a signal and activate the appropriate Dolby decoder, if one is needed.

An Ethernet connector provides network options while a USB port provides for local storage. There is an OLED screen, built-in speaker and 1/8-inch headphone output. It is battery-operated and comes with a charger and mil-spec storage case. Options include DVB-ASI and HDMI inputs.
