Harris said it will introduce MicroMax, a low-cost FM exciter.
The product is aimed at small-market U.S. and international radio broadcasters. It’s a 30-watt, 1 RU exciter that can interface with Harris and other transmitters on the market. Frequency can be changed from the front panel.
“It is especially valuable for FM broadcasters when used with the new Harris ZXT range of low-cost FM transmitters, available in four power levels from 500 watts to 3.5 kW,” the company stated.
The manufacturer said the exciter also is appropriate as a backup for larger operations.
Cox Radio Orlando will install two ZXT 1000 1 kW transmitters with MicroMax exciters at its Orlando studios; they’re scheduled to go online in November and will serve as backup units for five area stations.
