Finding a codec maker at the recent NAB Show that wasn’t talking IP was probably a waste of time. Musicam USA was no exception.
It noted that attendees were asking plenty about IP codecs. To satisfy them the company pointed at its long line of Suprima line of rackmounted IP codecs along with its Road Warrior line of portable IP codecs. Many of these units also offer ISDN for priority or backup use.
Musicam also showed several new interfaces, including a mic/line limiter, a dual mic preamp and a 1×4 distribution amp.
The MAT 1 is a Stereo Matching Unit, IHF “prosumer” level matching to pro +4 dBm. The MLM Mic/Line Limiter is a mic/line limiting preamp for microphone and mono lines. The DA14 is a single-input, four-output distribution amp capable of simultaneous distribution of stereo and mono audio at a variety of levels. And the MIC Dual Microphone Pre-amplifier rounds out its new offerings.
