Fortunately for codec users, the post-POTSalyptic future isn’t as horrifying as Mel Gibson’s Mad Max world so Musicam USA’s new Roadwarrior XL, the latest in the venerable portable line, can be used safely on IP and 3G roads, as well as the traditional ISDN and POTS trails.
The battery-operable Roadwarrior XL is a two-channel codec with four mic/line inputs and one line-only input; four headphone outputs and two auxiliary line outputs. The two channels can be mixed.
Supported codecs include G.722, MPEG 1/2, Layers II and III, AAC-LC, AAC-LD, HE-AAC, apt-X and standard PCM.
All audio and communication parameters including input/output signals and levels are remotely configurable and can be stored as presets.
