Nagra LB Expands Two-Channel Capabilities

The battery-powered solid-state recorder features on-board editing, an Ethernet connection and Bluetooth communication capabilities.

The latest recorder from Nagra is the LB, a two-channel digital recorder designed for broadcast use.

The battery-powered solid-state recorder features on-board editing, an Ethernet connection and Bluetooth communication capabilities. Sampling frequencies of up to 192 kHz are available.

The Nagra LB is designed to allow journalists to record and edit material in the field and then send it back to the studio via a Bluetooth-enabled mobile telephone or directly via an IP network.

The microphone inputs are fitted with an integrated vortex filter to help eliminate wind noise, as well as linkable audio limiters, +48 V phantom powering and in independent sensitivity selection switches. The XLR mic input connectors double as line inputs, and an AES digital input can be fed to a dedicated XLR connector.

The LB car record PCM linear or MPEG compressed BWF files to CompactFlash and an internal 2 GB memory buffer; a small Switch button next to the CompactFlash slot allows the user to swap CF cards on the fly without loosing audio (the internal memory takes over until a new CF card is inserted).

Waveform editing is via a color display, five function keys and a jogwheel.

Eight AA cells provide more than 10 hours of recording time. The Nagra LB comes with a carrying case, external AC power supply and adjustable shoulder strap.
