NDS will feature the addition to its Conditional Access line, NDS RadioGuard, that secures content for digital HD Radio broadcasts.
With its integration into the HD Radio system, the company says, broadcasters can offer more choices to listeners, a broader selection of content and more segmentation opportunities for advertisers.
Consumers can take advantage of services not offered in today’s terrestrial or satellite radio environments such as pay-per-listen options for live concerts and events; improved radio reading services for the blind; private channels for emergency operators; and opt-in events sponsored by advertisers.
Ad substitution, targeted programming and car performance updates are possible; every registered user’s radio is addressable.
NDS says progress toward a complete offering has been swift; development is complete and pilot testing indicates the RadioGuard technology is successful. The company expects HD Radio receivers with RadioGuard CA to be on store shelves soon.
