The original Magnetic tape emulation plug-in apparently did so well that Nomad Factory has charged up Magnetic II.
Production personnel looking for that old-fashioned, creamy sound now have more options.
Available for Mac and Windows in AU, RTAS and VST formats, Magnetic II “warms” a processed signal by using emulation algorithms based on old reel-to-reel tape machines.
Magnetic II offers nine new algorithm models based on machines such as Ampex ATR-102, Otari MX-80 and several Studer A8x models. Controls include tape speed, saturation along with EQ, “tape color” and wow/flutter.
Nomad Factory is offering a few deals on Magnetic II. Current Magnetic owners can upgrade for $20. Magnetic II bought before Dec. 31 is $79 (MSRP $149). Magnetic II will also be part of Nomad Factory’s Integral Studio Pack III.
