Digital Audio Denmark AX32 converters from NTP were used to record a José van Dam & YOU concert in Brussels, which was streamed online using low-latency uncompressed audio-over-Ethernet networking.
“We were able to take this feed straight from an Audinate Dante card in the AX32,” said Jarek Frankowski of Acoustic Recordings, who was responsible for recording and sound design.
Frankowski used two AX32 audio analog/digital/analog, explaining, “Each converter allows up to 48 microphones to be routed as IP data along 100 meters of Cat 6 cable or a practically unlimited distance via optical fiber.”
The AX32’s optional microphone preamplifier provides up to 72 decibels of analog gain, 123 dB dynamic range and an equivalent noise floor of -133 dB. The AX32 comes standard with Avid Pro Tools and eight AES/EBU and MADI inputs and outputs and can be fitted with a Dante IP audio interface and two optical MADI interfaces.
The interface enables the analog-to-digital, digital-to-digital and digital-to-analog converters to be assigned to any digital interface, as well as patching on a channel-to-channel basis.
It can be controlled via Ethernet using NTP Technology’s DADman software or from Pro Tools software. Basic control is also possible from the front panel.
