Omnia Audio plans for the Audio Active brand to have multiplatform uses. The Telos Alliance and its Omnia Audio division is launching a new brand at the NAB Show, while reviving a name it used several years ago: AudioActive.
CEO Frank Foti hinted, “Broadcasters have been very receptive to innovations that make radio more immersive to today’s younger listener demographics.” The company went more in depth, saying that AudioActive is a “new series of devices and services which will not only allow RDS-based data and images to be reproduced on a smartphone screen during Internet streaming, but will also allow direct user interaction via the same screen. It will also allow data reproduction and interaction on FM transmissions received off-the-air on FM-equipped smartphones.”
Foti added that AudioActive will bring RDS encoding to Omnia audio processors, and provide “live” metadata to Telos Alliance products such as Telos ProFiler and ProStream, Omnia A/XE and Axia IP-Audio networks.
First out of the gate, according to a release, is the DP-1 processor, developed with partner and RDS specialist Jump2Go. The DP-1 will be compatible with the NextRadio FM radio in smartphones app that is being developed.
Also new at the Omnia corner of the Telos Alliance spread is the Omnia One.SG. The Omnia One.SG is a stereo generator software option which is downloadable to any Omnia One, to convert the unit to a standalone stereo generator.
