From our Who’s Buying What page: Radio Moletsi is using the AEQ Bravo audio console in its new mobile radio unit to serve remote communities in South Africa.
Radio Moletsi is the largest regional radio station in the Lompopo province of South Africa. Located in the northern part of the country (bordering Botswana, Zimbabwe and Mozambique), the province has a population of more than 5 million inhabitants. Radio Molotsi broadcasts on 98.6 FM and streams online from the capital city, Polokwane.
Due to the size of the Lompopo region, Radio Molotsi built a mobile radio unit to bring the medium closer to the most remote communities. In a press release by the manufacturer, the station was quoted saying that the AEQ Bravo was chosen as the heart of the system because, “in addition to its technical features, we were looking for a compact, complete, very easy to operate and especially robust equipment to withstand the harsh conditions of working in remote and difficult to access locations.”
Bravo offers 12 analog inputs (four mic/line and eight dual stereo lines), two integrated telephone hybrids and four internal working buses for Program, Audition, cue and interfacing. This includes up to two external telephone lines with a self-contained control surface and 12 working faders.
The main contractor for the mobile unit project and installation was Buck Broadcast Company.
