German codec maker Mayah Communications is using the IBC show in Amsterdam to launch a new offering: the FM Radio to MPEG TS Converter module for the Centauri III line.
Based on the Centauri III 4000 codec, the FM Radio to MPEG TS converter uses up to eight onboard FM receivers to receive signals and then convert them to MPEG (Layer II, MPEG 4 AAC, HE-AAC v2) for distribution within a video stream network. It is fully DVB-compliant and can be remote controlled via the Web.
The target market is cable TV operators looking to add FM radio stations to their content offerings. So the next time your local cable guy asks how he can get your stations onto their system, here you go.
