Telos Puts More ZIP in Its Lineup

Sneak Peek: New codec handles IP and wireless options

Telos Systems has added a new member to the venerable Zephyr codec lineup, the Z/IP One.

The rackmountable Z/IP One is IP-based but offers wireless (Wi-Fi, EVDO and UMTS) pathways as well. Telos offers a Z/IP Server service to help with firewall and NAT problems and connect with other Z/IPs.

The expected features of a modern codec are available such as G.711, G.722, HE-AAC, AAC-LD, AAC-ELD, MPEG Layer II, MPEG 4 and linear codecs. It includes Agile Connection Technology for adapting performance to network conditions. There is a web-based configuration and remote control app.

A secondary IP port adds flexibility for networking options. The front panel includes a numeric keypad, headphone controls and output along with navigation knob and screen.
