The Old Meets the New

MDI Precision Works Launches Ampex ATR-100 Controller
Publish date:

If you are one of the lucky ones and still have a functioning Ampex ATR-100 reel-to-reel recorder around, the machine control specialists at MDI PrecisionMotorWorks have made your life a whole lot easier (and maybe more fun!) with a PC-control module.

Yes, modern digital control meets analog sound.

MDI has created a GUI that resembles a remote control. Utilizing a USB interface (from the computer) and an interface box (included) for addressing the accessory connector on the ATR-100, PC remote control comes to the recorder.

Main control functions and all four channels are supported including fine control of the Vari-Speed and compatibility with the search-to-cue function.

New Neumann Gets Old Number

The new TLM 67 uses the same K 67 capsule as the 1960s Neumann U 67 mic and also features new circuit technology that closely reproduces the sound characteristics of the U 67 without the use of tubes.
