The Transmitter on the Wall

The perfect Christmas gift — 2015 historical transmitter calendar available

Joining Scott Fybush’s annual tower pin-up calendar is a new project, “The Radio Historian’s Historic Radio Broadcast Transmitters — 2015 Calendar.”

A work of frequent Radio World contributor John Schneider, the calendar features a dozen classic transmitters from back in the day. And we’re not talking about any old solid-state rack-based transmitters, but the days when a transmitter might take up a whole wall. Most of the transmitters featured are pre-World War II creations, several hailing from the 1920s.

The pictures are colorized (a well-done job) and feature retro interiors, some from famed stations such as KIRO, KSFO, WWJ, WJZ and WMAQ.

Priced at $21.95, it is available on eBay and at Scott Fybush’s calendar emporium.

It’s the perfect Christmas gift for any broadcast engineer. What’s that you say? You’ve already ordered Scott’s calendar? You have more than one wall, don’t you?
