In June Yamaha expects to make the Pocketrak PR7 handheld digital recorder available.

The PR7 offers an X-Y microphone configuration. In addition it has 24-bit/96 kHz recording performance. File formats are PCM and WAV. Recording can be to the 2 GB internal memory or SD/SDHC memory cards.

Onboard tools include a tuner and metronome. An overdub button allows for adding a live recording track to a previously recorded track and there is variable playback speed (50%–200%). The three-second recording buffer helps prevent chopped clips. Edit markers aid marking recorded passages. Five basic recording optimization presets are included and Steinberg WaveLab LE ships with it. Price: $249.
