Hackett’s Cove, Nova Scotia – Nautel has announced plans to again greatly increase the size of the company’s design team coupled with a 40% increase in its research and development budget in 2017.
Nautel has experienced considerable success over the past year with several significant orders from Radio customers around the world. “Contracts such as a 2 MW system for Hungary, the world’s biggest transmitter, large N+1 systems for Middle East customers, and an order for 6 follow-on high power systems for India underscore our ability to handle some of the largest and most challenging projects in the broadcast industry,” said Kevin Rodgers, Nautel President and CEO. “We appreciate the confidence customers are placing in Nautel’s innovative products and we’re investing to ensure continued radio broadcast leadership for decades to come.”
The company already employs one of the largest technical staffs of any radio transmitter company in the world; Nautel’s current hiring phase will see the design team grow by 50% over 2016 levels. The last large-scale increase in the engineering team led to a suite of Nautel innovations such as the Advanced User Interface, ultra-high-efficiency transmitters, and addition of features previously unseen in transmitters such as built-in advanced instrumentation, IP audio input, onboard audio processing, HD PowerBoost, and Nautel Phone Home.
The worldwide Radio market will continue to be the focus of Nautel’s design efforts as the company concentrates on innovations for AM, FM and MW transmitters of all power ranges. “We now have more than 15,000 Radio transmitters in 177 different countries,” said Mike Morris, Nautel COO, “and we have gotten a clear directive from our thousands of customers to continue our focus on easy-to-use, reliable and versatile products for this industry.”
