89.3 KPCC(FM) Gets Signal Boost in LA

Areas west of the 405 freeway in Los Angeles expected to receive better signal quality

PASADENA, Calif .Southern California Public Radio station KPCC(FM) is providing a boost to its signal coverage west of the 405 freeway in Los Angeles.

Coverage in areas that include Santa Monica, Pacific Palisades, Sawtelle and Brentwood are expected to receive improved signal quality with less static interference. Commuters on the Pacific Coast Highway between Santa Monica and Malibu are also expected to be impacted.

The coverage map shown at left and supplied by KPCC illustrates the change.

This is a project two years in the making from KPCC in a joint effort from National Public Radio Labs. SCPR CEO Bill Davis says the project was funded by a gift from members of SCPRs board of trustees.

We expect to apply the advances we gained on the Westside to improve our signal for listeners in other parts of the Los Angeles area, said Doug Johnson, SCPR vice president of operations.
