Bavarian DAB Networks to be Reorganized This Summer

On the basis of an infrastructure agreement between Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR), Bayerische Landeszentrale für neue Medien (BLM) and Bayern Digital Radio GmbH (BDR), the operation and use of the DAB+ digital radio networks in Bavaria, Germany will be soon be reconfigured, according to teltarif.de.

MUNICH�On the basis of an infrastructure agreement between Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR), Bayerische Landeszentrale f�r neue Medien (BLM) and Bayern Digital Radio GmbH (BDR), the�operation�and use of the�DAB+�digital radio�networks in Bavaria, Germany will be soon be reconfigured, according to teltarif.de.

The nationwide radio program Antenne Bayern will be distributed in the country-wide DAB+ network of the Bavarian Rundfunks on channel 11D as of July 1.�The other country-wide radio programs Rockantenna, Kultradio and Absolut Hot are distributed via the existing regional networks Unterfranken (Channel 10A), Oberfranken (Channel 10B), Mittelfranken (channel 8C) as well as the new networks Oberpfalz-Niederbayern (channel 12D) and Oberbayern-Schwaben Channel 10A), which will be broadcast nationwide from Sept. 1 and onwards.�In the networks, Bavarian Radio is also active with the respective regional versions of Bavaria 1 and Bayern 2.�

The existing regional DAB+ networks in Munich, Augsburg, Ingolstadt and Nuremberg will continue to be operated by the BDR and have channel space available for local radio services.� After July 1, five or six local FM radio programs simulcast are expected to be broadcast via DAB+ in the networks, although BLM does not say which ones right now.�For the DAB network “Mittelfranken”, two local FM radio programs will also be distributed simulcast via DAB+ from July 1 and onward�likely to be Radio 8 and Radio Galaxy Ansbach, according to the same article.
