BBC Launches Seven New DAB Transmitters for National Networks

The BBC launched seven additional national DAB transmitters during March, bringing the total number of transmitters to 307

LONDON�The BBC launched seven additional national DAB transmitters during March, bringing the total number of transmitters to 307, serving more than 95 percent of the homes in total.

The seven are part of the current phase of the national network expansion, which will add coverage for 2 million more people, and increase indoor coverage to 97 percent from 93 percent of homes across the UK, according toBBC news.

In total, the new transmitters bring 34,000 households into the BBC�s national coverage area and improve digital radio reception for a further 56,000 households, in these areas:

  • Peebles, Scottish Borders
  • Pateley Bridge and surrounding areas of Nidderdale, North Yorkshire
  • Girvan, South Ayrshire
  • Huntly and Ballater, Aberdeenshire
  • The Vale of Neath
  • Dereham and surrounding areas of Norfolk
  • North Walsham, Norfolk
