BLU Smartphones Enable FM Chip

Company joins other Android manufacturers, Apple is still a holdout

INDIANAPOLIS�American mobile phone manufacturer BLU Products has begun the process of retroactively enabling the FM chip in its Vivo 5 and Vivo XL smartphones through software updates, NextRadio announced.

The company will also add NextRadio compatibility for the Dash, Energy, Diamond and Neo phones in its Studio series during the coming months. The 2016 phones sold by BLU included an activated FM chip beginning in May.

According to the release, BLU joins the ranks of other Android manufacturers who have already committed to this move, including: Alcatel, Boost, HTC, Huawei, Kyocera, LG, Motorola, Samsung and Sharp. Apple’s iPhone is still a holdout.
