BERLIN In 2016, total receiver sales in Germany exceeded 8 million, and sales are pacing higher this year, according to worlddabeurekadab.org. A recent marketing campaign, with another starting just before IFA, along with the expansion of both DAB+ multiplex networks and services on-air should see DAB+ taking a much more prominent position this year.
Both ARD and Deutschlandradio ran a cross-media nationwide marketing campaign for DAB+ radio in May that included radio, television and online, as well as images for print use. The campaign focused on the listening experience, conveying typical listening situations and the joy of listening to the radio, according to the same article.
At last years IFA there were at least 28 different companies showing DAB+ products, from standalone radios to Hi-Fi separates and portable radios to car head units. Norways digital switchover has had a significant impact on the receiver market, particularly for car and home adapter products.
Later this month worldeurekadab.org will publish a map highlighting companies showing DAB+ products at this years IFA show coming up in September. Follow them on Twitter and Facebook to be kept up to date.
