COPENHAGEN Denmarks Radio and Television Board has authorized new digital radio networks that will come on-air there in October 2017. There will be capacity for multiple radio stations to have nation-wide access, according toslks.dk.
Digital Radio Teracom A/S, part of the Teracom group, and 100% owned by Teracom Boxer Group AB, which is itself 100% owned by the Swedish State, has been given the right to be the Gatekeeper of digital radio transmission in Denmark, with an authority that goes from January of 2017 till December of 2028. The only other candidate for gatekeeper status was Bauer Digital Media.
“The Board has received two highly qualified applications in its decision to undertake a global assessment based on the established evaluation criteria. The assessment was made in favor of Digital Radio Teracom A/S, which generally performed better on each criterion, especially in the job as gatekeeper on objective commercial conditions,” said Radio and Television Board Chair Mads Bryde Andersen, quoted in same article.
