Doing the DAB Will Focus on Glasgow DAB

Free event will feature a host of the city’s leading radio figures from BBC, commercial and community radio

EDINBURGH, Scotland �Glasgow�s digital radio scene will be celebrated at a special Radio Academy eventDoing the DAB, to be presented by Digital Radio UK in partnership withRadioToday.

The free event, to be held on Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. at 29 Private Members� Club, will feature a host of the city�s leading radio figures from BBC, commercial and community radio. They will share their insights on the innovation that is driving Glasgow�s digital radio growth.

Stuart Barrie, chair of Radio Academy Scotland and East Scotland regional content director of Bauer Media will host the event, and speakers include:

  • Graham Bryce, Group Managing Director, Bauer City Network
  • John Collins, Presenter, Bauer City 2
  • Spencer Pryor, Director, Brave Broadcasting, from the Glasgow mini-mux which now carries 11 stations
  • Ford Ennals, CEO, Digital Radio UK
  • Ciaran O�Toole who was recently awarded the Glasgow/West Central Scotland license for Rock Radio.

Speakers from BBC Radio Scotland, Central FM, Wireless Group and Global will also feature in the final event line up.

Following the launch of the second national commercial multiplex network and the Ofcom small-scale mini-mux trial, the number of services available on DAB digital radio in Glasgow has increased to almost 70 in the past 12 months, according toRadiotoday.co.uk. Additionally, BBC Scotland launched pop-up digital stationBBC Radio Scotland Music Extra and Wireless Group collaborated with the Scottish Sun to launch Christmas pop-up, Scottish Sun Christmas Radio in November 2016.
