MILWAUKEE, WIS.With the help of jacapps, Journal Broadcast Group”s stations says they are super-charging their existing (free) smartphone apps with the strength of local radio.
We achieved our initial goal of combining multiple stations across many markets in one app to create an outstanding local experience that is unlike other aggregated mobile applications, jacapps President Paul Jacobs said in a statement from Journal Communications. Journal”s stations are more than a collection of audio streams, and this higher level of audience engagement is provided in the Radio League app.
The press release explained that the Radio League app detects the user”s location and serves their local Journal Broadcast Group stations first. Once the user designates their favorite stream, the app offers the station playlist, promotional messaging, social media and contesting. The next time the app opens it will auto-play the user”s favorite station.
In addition to the local stations, the Radio League app features 14 pure-play digital music streams. The stations include Now Trending Hits, Nashville Edge Country and Solid Gold Oldies. The Radio League digital stations had over 55 million minutes streamed in the last month.
We work hard to build local brands that go beyond a collection of songs, and I”m proud our team has developed another way to deliver those products to the audience wherever they are, said Steve Wexler, executive vice president radio for Journal Broadcast Group.
