New DAB+ Multiplex Takes to Air in Switzerland

Residents of the predominantly German-speaking part of the canton of Valais are now able to receive a DAB+ mux on channel 11C.

SWITZERLAND�Residents of the predominantly German-speaking part of the canton of Valais (home of the Matterhorn) are now able to receive a DAB+ mux on channel 11C.�

The multiplex carries 15 radio stations, including Swiss Radio SRF1, Energy, Radio 24, Radio Rottu Oberwalis, RRO Musig Pur and RRO Swiss Melody, according to radio.nl.

Iischers Radio, previously only available via cable, or via streaming, can is now be heard over the air as well.�

Originally it was intended that the mux transmitter, located on Gibidum mountain near the village of Visperterminen, was to be turned up on the first of December.� Technical issues delayed its start till last week, on the 23rd.� It�s transmitting with reduced power, but will be turned up early next year.
