INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. Colombia joins Mexico and Peru as the next Latin America country where consumers can tune into their favorite local FM radio stations using the NextRadio app.
Continued expansion of the NextRadio app in Latin America is a natural fit, since the smartphone market is rapidly growing, and almost all phones sold in Colombia for 2016 use the Android operating system. Later this year, additional expansion is planned by offering NextRadio in Brazil and Argentina’s Google Play Stores.
We continue to focus our efforts on working with handset makers to turn on the FM Chip and since most have said yes to US phones, it is an easier transition to ask for LATAM activation. We see a big opportunity to serve the broadcast community with rich data insights into their radio listeners which can in turn be offered to their advertisers, said Paul Brenner, President of TagStation, the power behind NextRadio.
