AMSTERDAM � The Ministry of Economic Affairs for the Netherlands will soon auction 31 digital radio licenses. The government will also continue with its digitalization policy for commercial radio broadcasting in the next few years. It should be noted that all current licenses will be renewed for five years, in-line with the wishes of the Lower House of Parliament, according to telecompaper.
The extra digital radio spectrum will become available in the digital layer four of band III, where regional public broadcasters, non-national commercial broadcasters and commercial mid-wave broadcasters work together. These frequencies may go to newcomers, or to existing stations that want to broadcast more or in with a higher audio quality.
All licensing decisions are in preparation, with public consultation and response analysis.
Teracom Denmark has won a new contract for the national DAB network in Denmark, and Paneda has been selected as partner for the DAB Head-End system. The new Paneda DAB system will be installed in the Teracom data center, completely virtualized, with full redundancy. In addition the contract calls for a test system and includes audio-over-IP components and advanced metadata content system from All-In Media with the RAPID.
