AMMAN, JORDANDelegates attending a recent two-day DAB+ demo and workshop in Amman, Jordan, co-organized by WorldDAB and Arab States Broadcasting Union, and hosted by Jordan Radio TV (JRTV) and the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (TRC), heard about the extent of deployment of DAB+ across the Arab region, according to Bernie ONeill of WorldDAB, in a recent post on Linkedin.
More than 50 stakeholders from across the Jordanian radio industry heard about all aspects of DAB+ deployment, and participated in a discussion about how DAB+ is relevant to the radio sector in Jordanoffering an opportunity to address FM congestion, as well as signal interference from neighboring countries.
The next steps for Jordan are the formation of a national committee for digital radio and the development of a DAB+ deployment plan. Getting cars imported with DAB+ will be a key element of that plan, given that radio listening happens mostly in-car, according to ONeills post.
