LONDONThe small-scale DAB trial multiplex in London is now testing from one of its two transmission sites in the capital. When fully launched, the multiplex, which is broadcasting on VHF Block 9A, will cover central London out to the A406 North Circular Road and A205 South Circular Road. In the meantime, the test transmissions cover a smaller area, reportsa516digital.com.
This small-scale multiplex will be on air for nine months as part of an Ofcom and radio industry trialtesting more economical ways to distribute stations via DAB. Its going on in ten towns and cities across the UK.
Listeners in Norwich can now access eight local stations via another one of the 10 small-scale DAB test multiplexes, according to radiotoday.co.uk. Eight new digital stations launched recently and will be available for the next nine months. The Lord Mayor of Norwich, Councillor Brenda Arthur, said: Norwich is served by a great variety of established local stations. I am delighted that now even more listeners in Norwich will be able to hear these important and well-loved stations on digital radio and encourage everyone to retune their radios this morning.
