Sweden Issues Digital Radio Authorizations

STOCKHOLM�Sweden”s Radio and TV authority granted 21 national and 4 regional digital radio authorizations. The six companies authorized are:

� DB Media AB � RBS Broadcasting AB � SBS Discovery Ltd � Kilohertz AB Archipelago Broadcasting Company � Norrk�ping Radio & Co

Some of the grant conditions are interesting. Transmissions should be started by October of next year. For the national licenses, 35% of Sweden”s population must be covered by July of 2016; 50% by July of 2017; and 70% by July of 2018. Regional licenses have similar requirements, though inside their coverage areas.
