Toshiba Chipset Gets Nod from Ibiquity

Sep 2, 2009 2:00 PM

Ibiquity Digital announced last week that it has approved Toshiba’s new TB2178FG and TC94A90FG chipsets for use in HD Radio products.

Although the chipsets are receiver front-end products, not decoders, the certification process means that Toshiba’s chips should integrate readily with decoders and HD Radio technology from other vendors.

According to an Ibiquity press release, the HD Radio approval process includes a “rigorous inspection of performance and functionality to ensure compliance with the HD Radio broadcast system requirements.” The company has issued similar approvals for receiver front-end devices from NXP and Sanyo Semiconductor.
