National Association of Tower Erectors Offers New Compliance Webinar

The National Association of Tower Erectors has a webinar slated for March 24, 11 a.m.–noon

WATERTOWN, S.D.The National Association of Tower Erectors has a webinar slated for March 24, 11 a.m.noon. The topic is Occupational Safety and Health Administration-policy compliance and will be led byEd Foulke, partner at Fisher & Phillips.

The website explains, All employers are seeing a continued shift away from OSHAs emphasis on cooperative efforts with employers to a more aggressive enforcement approach. The number of OSHA penalties in the tens and hundreds of thousands of dollars has significantly increased in the past year.

The webinar will explore the new enforcement-focused OSHA and new special emphasis programs including the Severe Violators Enforcement Program as well as safety legislation changes currently being debated in Congress.

It will also review the essential elements of OSHA compliance and an effective workplace safety and health program, with an eye to preparing for increased civil and criminal enforcement, as well as the use of safety issues by unions and a growing group of whistleblowers.

The end game (for broadcasters, anyway) is to explain how, when used properly, safety compliance can be a profit center and not another administrative cost.
