Pacific Empire Radio Corp. is still on the hook for $25,000 in fines.
The licensee has five stations in Oregon. Two FMS are licensed to La Grande: KUBQ and KKBC while KRJT is licensed to Elgin. Two AMs, KLBM and KBKR, are licensed to La Grande and Baker, respectively.
The penalties were originally levied by the Enforcement Bureau in 2012 for the licensee failing to retain multiple issues and program lists in the station’s inspection files from 2008 to 2011. At the time Pacific Empire said the lists were either missing or misplaced due to management changes at the stations.
Pacific Empire raised no new arguments in its appeal, according to the bureau. Pacific had characterized the public file rules as so “outdated and irrelevant” that assessing fines for violating them is “excessive,” according to the decision.
The bureau found Pacific’s arguments had no merit and let the fine stand. Payment is due within 30 days.
