Vizio’s new VIA Connected HDTV platform will include the RadioTime Internet radio widget.
RadioTime will provide the online radio tuner for Vizio Internet Apps Connected HDTVs, which enables viewers to access Internet content while watching traditional TV broadcast or recorded video.
Vizio this week announced additional content and service partners who are providing widgets for its new TVs, including RadioTime. The VIA Connected HDTV feature will be integrated into Vizio XVT series HDTVs shipping to retailers this fall, with apps from partners available at launch or later through updates over the HDTV’s Internet connection.
Dan Halyburton is president of RadioTime, which lets users find radio programming. It promises access to 60,000 stations broadcasting in 140 countries and 55 languages. RadioTime says other consumer device manufacturers using it include Kodak, Cisco, Sonos and Logitech.
