The Canadian Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium announced that Corus Québec has joined as the French-language radio partner for Canadian coverage of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
Corus Québec, part of Corus Entertainment, will provide exclusive French radio coverage of the Games on 10 francophone stations across the province, including pre-Olympic programming, live events, on-site reports and news updates.
The Corus Québec coverage will complement the English-language radio coverage planned by Rogers Radio, the official Canadian radio network for Vancouver 2010.
“This is a first for CKAC Sports, which will also act as a relay point for all our stations in Quebec. Our team of renowned broadcasters is up and ready and our listeners will benefit, as always, from their unparalleled experience,” said Mario Cecchini, vice president of Corus Québec.
The network will provide live francophone radio coverage of the opening and closing ceremonies, as well as all of Team Canada’s men’s and women’s hockey games, with Corus broadcasters Martin McGuire and Dany Dubé presenting the coverage.
Corus Québec will also have staff live on-site in Vancouver to broadcast hourly updates, interviews and features with athletes, and daily recaps. The radio network will also have access to Games-related content from TQS, RDS and RIS Info Sports. Pre-Olympic programming on Corus Québec will include daily features on Canadian Olympians with a sepcial focus on French Canadian athletes and stories, as well as coverage of the Olympic Torch Relay.
Corus Québec will also play a leading role as the French-language radio network for all consortium promotional activities and celebrations in Quebec leading up-to and during the Games.
Flagship all-sports station CKAC Sports 730 am in Montréal will be the central point for the network, with CKOI-96,9, 98,5 fm and Info690 am in Montréal; 102,9 CFOM in Québec City; 102,1 FM La Radio de la Rive-Sud in Lévis; 104,7 CJRC in Outaouais; 98,3 CKRS in Saguenay; CKOY 104,5 in Sherbrooke; and 106,9 CHLN in Trois-Rivières also carrying the Olympics coverage.
