Swe-Dish Satellite Systems AB has released a new “Fly-Away” satellite communications system, the FA120KS.
Designed for nontechnical personnel, it is simple to set up and its operations are programmed to be “one-touch,” the manufacturer says. Automated sequences include deploy, satellite menu building and automatic stowing. GPS, onboard compass and inclinometer are included. The antenna is motorized for automatic satellite tracking.
Reception is Ku band, with X and Ka upgrade options. It complies with FCC, Intelsat, Eutelsat and ITU standards.
The collapsible Gregorian offset dish is 47 inches; overall weight is 160 pounds when packed into its high-impact plastic road case. The system should not require tools for deployment. The system meets military (MIL-STD-810F) environment standards. Operational range is –15 degrees F to 122 degrees F.
Also new for Swe-Dish is the SATCOM On-The-Move (SOTM) system. Designed for more extreme situations, including use on watercraft, it uses a 38.6-inch center-feed carbon fiber dish with a 360-degree sweep (azimuth) and 120-degree elevation range. The Saab-built platform is self-stabilizing. The rugged SOTM is water-resistant and can withstand winds up to 89.5 mph. Reception is in the Ku band. The system will automatically maintain connection or reacquire a disrupted satellite connection.
SATCOM On-The-Move is compatible with FCC, Intelsat, Eutelsat, EuropeStar, IPSTAR, AsiaSat and Hispasat specs.
