DAD Gets Support for HD Radio iTunes Tagging

ENCO’s implementation will be delivered in an upcoming release of DAD.

Looks like DAD is getting hip to this iPod stuff.

ENCO Systems added iTunes Tagging support for HD Radio to its Digital Audio Delivery system.

The iTunes Tagging technology lets listeners tag songs they like that are broadcast by HD Radio stations. Information about these tagged songs is stored by the receiver and transferred to the listener’s iPod.

When the listener connects their iPod to their computer, iTunes automatically presents the songs in a “Tagged” playlist so they can preview, buy and download them. ENCO says radio broadcasters can share in the revenue derived from song purchases made by their listeners.

ENCO’s implementation will be delivered in an upcoming release of DAD, and supported in an upcoming release of the PADapult multipurpose real-time data delivery engine.

HD Radios equipped with iTunes Tagging are available from manufacturers such as JBL and Polk. Other iTunes Tagging-enabled radios were recently introduced at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
