Grad Petrov Uses Mayah Codecs for STL

Mayah said its codecs were used to bring a Russian radio station back on air after its analog STL failed.

Mayah said its codecs were used to bring a Russian radio station back on air after its analog STL failed.

The company said the St. Petersburg Orthodox community’s Radio “Grad Petrov” is using a Centauri II Audio Gateway Codec and Ganymed 1002 IP Audio Decoder from a studio on the Vasilievsky Island to its transmitter site in the suburb Olgino.

The station broadcasts on an AM frequency, so the final mix is transmitted as mono. “An available broadband connection allows the radio station to transport an uncompressed audio with 48 kHz sampling rate and according bit rate of 768 kbps,” the company said.

Anton Sergeev is technical director of Radio Grad Petrov.
